Frequently asked questions

Where are you based?

Based in Abingdon, near Oxford. As a virtual bookkeeper I am able work with clients based anywhere in the UK.

Can I visit you in person?

An initial consultation can be in person or provided remotely. I take regular meetings on Zoom, Skype or Teams.

How regularly will we meet if I hire you as my bookkeeper?

I prefer to be in touch with clients at least once a month but this can be discussed during the initial consultation.

Can I message you on Whatsapp or Facebook Messenger?

Of course. I keep in touch with clients via all methods of communication.

Can I keep my accounts in a spreadsheet?

I work with accounting software (Sage and Xero), however, I will be happy to manage the transition from spreadsheets for you.

Do you set up accounting software?

Yes. If you don’t currently have accounting software I will manage the whole process for you.

Is there a bookkeeping app I can use?

Sage and Xero all have apps you can use to keep up to date with your accounts.

What's the best way to track my mileage?

There are various apps available that can track mileage automatically. I will be happy to advise you on this.

What qualifications do you have?

I have been an AATQB since 2016 and I am licensed by The Association of Accounting Technicians.

Do you have professional indemnity insurance?

Yes – I am insured with Trafalgar for up to £100,000.

What measures do you take to keep my data secure?

All client data and files are stored securely with encryption and backed up regularly.

Are you registered with the Information Commissioner's Office for Data Protection?

Yes.

What happens next if I decide to start working with you?

Following an initial consultation you will be required to sign a letter of engagement and provide two forms of identification. Once formalities are complete I will start the onboarding process where I ensure everything is in place for us to start working together.

Why do I need to provide ID?

To comply with the Money Laundering Regulations 2017 certain information is required to set up your file before I can start supporting your business, with this in mind I ask that you provide two forms of identification.

Will I get a monthly report?

Ideally I will be in touch at least once a month and I can provide management reports to suit your requirements.

I haven't done any bookkeeping yet this financial year, is that a problem?

Not at all. I can happily do the catch up work for you. This will be charged at an hourly rate which will be discussed during your initial consultation.

How do I share my paperwork with you?

I use secure online file storage for sharing documents or deliver it to me in person.

Payment - how much and when?

Rates are based on individual needs and the packages required. This is all discussed during the initial consultation and clearly set out in the letter of engagement.

Payments can be made by BACS or card upon receipt of a monthly invoice.
